TWO people have been killed and four wounded after at shooting at a Thanksgiving American football tournament in Louisville, Kentucky.
Gunfire erupted at a riverfront park crowded where people had gathered for the annual "Juice Bowl", according to local media.
Children had finished playing, and two women's teams were playing flag football - a minimal contact version of American football - when shots were fired.
The men's games were then cancelled, according to the
Police do not have a motive for the two related shootings, which took place in Shawnee Park around 200 yards from the games.
The wounded suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and were taken to University Hospital.
The suspects are still at large.
Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said: "When you have a tragedy like this take place, certainly it puts a damper on anyone celebrating [Thanksgiving]."
Meanwhile, Mayor Greg Fischer wrote on Twitter: "To have people with guns so disrespect life, Shawnee Park, and neighborhood tradition is sad and has no place in our city.
"The increase in homicides in our city should be alarming to everyone - and LMPD needs the public’s help to solve these crimes."
The annual Juice Bowl Football Tournament is a tradition dating back to the 1950s which attracts hundreds of locals in the southeastern state.
