Gareth Southgate nets £1 million from business set up days before THAT Euro ’96 penalty miss
Southgate is also set to sign a £1.5 million deal when he is appointed as England boss
GARETH Southgate has collected £1million from a business he set up days before his fateful penalty miss at Euro 96.
The payout comes as he is due to land a £1.5m deal as England boss tomorrow.
Interim England manager Southgate, 46 — due to be named full-time boss — closed down Gareth Southgate Promotions.
He founded the company during the 96 tournament.
Two weeks later he missed his shoot-out penalty in the semi- final against Germany, sending England crashing out.
Gareth, 46, cashed in by mocking his blunder in a Pizza Hut ad with Stuart Pearce and Chris Waddle, who missed penalties in the 1990 World Cup.
Southgate went on to carve out a career as a TV pundit and after-dinner speaker.
