Iraqi forces parade CHEMICAL weapons haul seized from ISIS death squads near Mosul
The terrifying armoury was confiscated as troops battled to regain control of the war-torn city
IRAQI soldiers have displayed a huge cache of weapons seized from ISIS as they push to regain control of the war-torn city of Mosul.
The terrifying armoury included a fully-armed truck bomb, a large haul of ammunition and CHEMICAL weapons.
The weapons were confiscated as Iraqi troops continued their push to dislodge militants controlling the majority of the northern Iraqi city.
They have already recaptured the neighbourhoods of Intisar, Jadidat mufti, Salam, Younis Sabawi and Palestine.
The government forces also said they secured the nearby villages of Shahrazad and Shimaa.
All the districts have had to be cleared of booby traps, snipers and remaining militants.
The secured villages surround Ali Rash, a village about four miles southeast of Mosul, which was recaptured from the militants late last month.
Nearly all the militants have now retreated from areas around the city of Mosul.
But the Iraqi force's early advances have stuttered as hardcore militants dug in using civilians as human shields and hitting advancing troops with suicide bombs, sniper and mortar fire.
Over one million civilians are thought to be trapped in Mosul, and aid stations received numerous casualties throughout the day.
Iraqi military and hospital officials said mortar rounds fired by ISIS militants overnight and early on Saturday killed 16 civilians in neighbourhoods already retaken by troops.
The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, says at least 73,000 Iraqis have fled Mosul since the government's campaign to retake the city began on October 17.
