JAPANESE military bosses are set to spend billions on beefing up their surface-air-missile capability amid fears North Korea nukes could start raining down.
The island nation is terrified wannabee nuclear warlord Kim Jong-un isn't really bluffing about pressing the red button.
In September North Korea test fired missiles which easily reached the coast of Japan as well as carrying out its fifth nuclear test.
Now, according to Japanese media, rattled military bosses want nine more Patriot Advanced Capability-3 surface-to-air missiles (SAMS) as the unthinkable becomes a very real threat to millions of citizens.
The new SAMs will have a range doubled from 30 miles.
The ground based missiles are fired if Japanese warships out at sea fail to shoot down enemy missiles.
As reported, plans to protect the nation from a nuclear strike are well underway.

Already several anti-missile batteries have begun appearing in Tokyo, which is expected to be a primary target.
It urges people to take shelter in reinforced concrete buildings or behind thick walls to avoid blast injuries but also radiation.
On section reads: “Reduce exposed parts of your body by pulling the jacket over your head and covering your mouth and nose with a handkerchief and get away from the explosions site.”
Underground shopping malls would be an ideal place to take cover, it advises.
Japan is the only country to have suffered nuclear war after the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the last days of World War 2.
