Millionaire who bankrolled Just Stop Oil declares disruptive protests ‘are not accomplishing anything’
A MILLIONAIRE who bankrolled Just Stop Oil has turned on the eco-yobs — declaring disruptive protests “are not accomplishing anything”.
Investment fund boss Trevor Neilson accused the woke climate cabal of “ostracising the exact people they need to engage” with crippling slow walk protests.
Neilson, 50, founded the Climate Emergency Fund (CEF) after California wildfires came close to destroying his home in 2018.
The group went on to become the main bankroller for Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil — as well as handing over £4bn to 100 other global eco groups.
But Neilson said of the group he funded: “It’s become disruption for the sake of disruption.
“Working people are trying to get to their jobs, get their kids to school, survive a brutal cost of living crisis.

"If at the same time, they have a pink-haired, tattooed protester standing in front of their car, so that their kid is late for a test, that does not encourage them to join the movement.”
He told The Sunday Times: “It’s not accomplishing anything. The tactics are harming the cause.”
Neilson quit the CEF in 2021 and now advocates civil solutions to global warming.
But the CEF’s new boss, Margaret Klein Salamon, has said disruptive protests are “the single most effective force in terms of moving the conversation”.
