He could be heard saying: "This is all bad, something is telling me to go check up on the people in the house, so I'm going to."

As Daniel waded through the flood waters, suddenly the camera goes dark as he fell into the flooded man hole.

Daniel's father Steve had been watching his son's live stream and witnessed the horror moment he went under the waters.

Steve told the that he initially thought his son had just dropped his phone in the waters.

But after attempting to contact Daniel with no response, his worst fears were confirmed.

Steve said: "I couldn’t contact him. I had no contact with any of his flatmates. I didn’t have their phone numbers or contact details.

“The next morning I had a visit from a police officer delivering the sad news, Dan had drowned. I was in disbelief, as on the live stream, you could see people only a few metres away from him."

Police informed Steve that Daniel's body had been found in a culver, a ways from where he plunged into the manhole.

The grieving father said: "It (the livestream) was on his Facebook page but I’ve deleted it. I watched it too many times and it kept looping over in my head for days."

Steve is now campaigning for further safety features to be added on manhole covers, so they don't float away easily in floods.

A friend of Daniel's claimed to have seen multiple man hole covers that floated off during the torrential floods.

He said: "We need to have more awareness, like signs, especially around where it floods, they shouldn’t be able to just unlock and float away like that."
