THIS is the chilling moment a man stumbled upon his teenage killer lying in wait seconds before he was stabbed to death.

Emadh Miah, then 17, chased and fatally stabbed 18-year-old Ghulam Sadiq in Leytonstone, East London, on August 6 last year.

CCTV footage shows Miah cycling down a residential road while brazenly holding a huge zombie knife in his right hand.

He is seen turning down a side street, before dropping the bike on the floor and concealing the weapon down his trousers.

Seconds later, Ghulam appears in the same street also riding a bike, before turning round and attempting to cycle away after Miah brandishes the knife.

But Miah, now 18, caught the victim and stabbed him in the back, with Ghulam suffering a 15cm deep wound that pierced his heart.

He managed to stumble into a nearby restaurant and was given first aid by members of the public, but he was pronounced dead 20 minutes later.

Miah, meanwhile, returned to his bike and cycled away from the scene. No motive has been established for the murder.

The teenager, of Solihull Road, West Midlands, was today jailed for life with a minimum term of 19 years after being convicted of murder.

An investigation found the teenage killer had travelled to East London from an address in Solihull, Birmingham, two days before the attack.

He had taken a train to Stratford, before hiring a bike and travelling to Leytonstone, where he was seen by a number of witnesses.

Despite it being a sunny August day, Miah was wearing his hood up, gloves and had his face concealed with a surgical mask.

He had turned his phone off prior to the fatal stabbing to avoid detection, while his clothing and the murder weapon were never recovered.

But police traced his movements and identified the hire bike he used after finding he had used his own bank card to purchase it.

Miah was arrested in Walsall five days after the incident and made no comment to all questions during police interview in custody.

But he was found guilty of murder on April 4 following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Miah had earlier admitted possession of a knife and, in relation to a separate incident in 2021, GBH with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

Ghulam's mother Khalida Parveen described her son as "compassionate and great fun" in a heartbreaking tribute.

She said: "Ghulam was brutally murdered during broad daylight hours, near our family home. There are no words that can describe my loss and pain!

"That wretched day is unforgettable, I recall it as if it were yesterday – how can I ever overcome the void of losing my little baby!

"Ghulam was very popular, compassionate and great fun, he was always the centre of attention and was very much liked by family, friends, teachers and all that he was acquainted with. He had so much to offer and had a very kind and gentle heart.

"He was very well known for his cheeky looks, respect for elders, good mannerism and was known as a very chirpy and polite kid in our local area.

"We cherish every moment we spent with him; we have so many happy memories.

"Ghulam, your short life enriched the lives of so many people. You'll never be forgotten."

The murder probe also found Miah had attempted to use fake ID to buy knives online.

On July 23, he tried to buy a 15-inch Rambo-style knife from a website, providing a false name and fake driving license, but the order was rejected.

The following day, he placed an order with a different website for two knives advertised as a "Fantasy Spartan Sword blackout version serrated-bade two piece set".

He again provided a false name and driving license, but this time the order was successful and the knives were shipped to an address in Solihull.

The knives were not delivered and were left at the local post office.

There is no record of the knives being collected, but they bear a "striking resemblance" to the weapon he used to stab Ghulam, police say.

DCI Linda Bradley of the Met's Specialist Crime, said: "This is one of those rare cases where we have never been able to conclusively establish a motive for the crime.

"Miah tried to claim diminished responsibility, but the careful planning that went into buying weapons and his actions throughout the day showed this was not some random act of violence, but a planned and deliberate murder.

"The team worked quickly to identify and arrest Miah and uncovered the attempts he had made to obtain the knife he used in the attack.

"I have to ask why a weapon of this kind is being sold online: I can see absolutely no justification why any reasonable member of society would need, or want, to purchase these items.

"Ghulam’s family have now seen the man responsible for his death brought to justice, but I know that their anguish and loss will be with them forever and our thoughts remain with them."
