'I WANTED TO KILL HIM'

Ex-footballer Derek Bell recalls dramatic moment he went to sex abuse coach’s house with a 12 inch knife

FORMER Newcastle footballer Derek Bell has told how he turned up at his abuser's house with a 12 inch knife and wanted to stab him to death.

Bell was abused hundreds of times by his coach George Ormond when he played for Montagu and North Fenham boys football club in the 1970s.

Twenty years later Bell saw Ormond again and said the encounter "just blew his head" and he wanted to kill him.

He later met up with his abuser and secretly recorded him to help police bring him to justice.

Bell is the latest ex professional footballer to waive his anonymity and speak out publicly about the abuse he suffered as a youngster.

Former coach Barry Bennell has been charged with eight sex offences against a boy under 14.

He is accused of carrying out the abuse while working as a Crewe Alexandra coach between 1981 and 1985.

He will appear at South Cheshire Magistrates Court on December 14.

The football world has been rocked by horrific accounts of sex abuse since ex-player Andy Woodward told of his treatment by Bennell as a young teen.

His brave actions have encouraged ex-Manchester City youth player Chris Unsworth, ex-Crewe player Steve Walters, and former Tottenham and England player Paul Stewart to come forward and share their disturbing stories.
