Rainfall could be heavy in some places, with a small chance of a storm.

But lighter breezes will leave Brits feeling warmer than at the weekend.

Met office forecaster Jonathan Vautrey said: "Some of us will dodge a lot of showers and could stay relatively dry through much of the day.

"And in that sunshine, temperatures will be climbing to highs of around 21C, 23C across Wales and England.

"Parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland will be closer to 18C or 19C.

"But feeling just a bit warmer compared to the weekend now that those winds are a touch lighter."

Tonight the showers will ease - with forecasters predicting some late sunny spells.

It will turn cloudy overnight in the west of the country, but skies will stay clear elsewhere.

Tomorrow rain will move northeast across the UK, turning heavy in some places.

But the southeast will stay mostly dry and warm, with light winds in the west.

The weather will get brighter on Wednesday and Thursday, although there will still be some showers in between the sunny spells.

There could be some longer spells of rain on Friday - but temperatures should be around the July average.

Jonathan said: "Temperatures in the southeast will be climbing to a relatively pleasant 24C on Tuesday - so it should be a fine day.

"In the second half of the week, we'll see the return once again of that sunshine and scattered showers.

"Temperatures will hold up just around where they should be for the time of year, in the high teens or low to mid twenties."
