NO KIDDING

My son was kicked out of a major supermarket because of their no kids policy – I’m furious

A FUMING mum says her son was kicked out of a major supermarket because of its no-kids policy.

Oliver Atkinson, 13, went to his local Morrisons in Killingworth, Tyneside to pick up ingredients for sausage and egg muffins.

But the teen's mum Hazel said that a Morrisons security guard ordered him to leave.

Hazel claimed that when she complained, she was left on hold of an hour - before a Morrisons rep said 'I'm not taking this phone call' and hung up on her.

She told : "He was looking forward to getting all this stuff and they've banned him from going to the shop.

"We spend about five-or six-hundred pounds in that shop for food, petrol, all sorts. Not anymore.

"I'm not going there ever again. There's a , an Aldi, a Sainsbury's and if I drive a little bit further away there's an Asda."

Signs at the Killingworth Morrisons warn that under-18s are not allowed in without a responsible adult after 4pm.

But Hazel said that Oliver went shopping at the store around 3.30pm - and that he has been discriminated against because of his age.

The furious mum added that a blanket ban on kids is as unfair response to "throngs" of trouble-making teens.

Oliver's dad Andrew said: "It's disgusting that Morrisons are allowed to teach our town's young people that it is OK to discriminate against someone because of their age.

"That sort of thing can have very serious consequences on a community and cause problems for us in the future that will not go away for a very long time."

Morrisons said: "The safety of our staff and customers is the most important thing for us and so we have temporarily introduced a ban while we look for a long term solution."

It comes after a woman who took her motor to a Morrisons car wash claimed that it is now totally written off - vowing never to shop at the supermarket again.
