Police investigate Tweet calling for people to ‘Jo Cox’ the Tory MP Anna Soubry
She responded by calling them a "sad cowardly troll" and revealing it was the second death threat she had received
A TWEET calling for people to "Jo Cox" a Tory MP is being investigated by police.
Anna Soubry, the target of the online message, tackled the person who made the post on social media, calling them a "sad cowardly troll".
The person had earlier tweeted "someone Jo Cox Anna Sourby please", also managing to misspell the MP for Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire’s name.
The account has since been deleted. Ms Soubry replied to the message on Twitter: "Take it that wasn't a spelling mistake. You're a sad cowardly troll."
Later, she posted a screenshot of the post, telling her 31,000 followers, and said: "This is what has happened to our politics. Tolerance &; free speech must prevail."
She said it was the "the second death threat in 3 days" she had received.
It comes a week after Jo Cox's murderer, 43-year-old Thomas Mair, was jailed for life for shooting and stabbing the Labour MP for Batley and Spen outside her constituency office in Birstall, West Yorkshire, in June.

Conservative MP Ms Soubry was a Remain supporter in the EU referendum, as was Mrs Cox.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed they were investigating, with a spokesman for the force saying: "We have received reports of threats made to an individual.
"Nottinghamshire Police takes reports of this nature very seriously and an investigation is under way."
It is understood the police are also investigating a separate threat made in a telephone call to Ms Soubry's constituency office on Wednesday.
