What was in Lucy Letby’s diary entries?
SICK and twisted Lucy Letby will die in jail after a judge handed her a life sentence.
The evil nurse, 33, killed seven babies and attempted to murder six more during a year-long reign of terror at Countess of Chester Hospital.
Now Britain's most prolific child killer, the jury heard how she became a "constant malevolent presence" on the neo-natal ward.
During the trial, Post-It notes from her bedroom which said "I am evil" and "I killed them on purpose" were analysed as part of the evidence.
Diary entries also revealed haunting scrawlings from the baby killer as she admited what she had done.

The nurse had scribbled pages of notes in diaries and on Post-Its, including one that read: “I am evil I did this”.
The note added: “I don’t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough to care for them.
“I am a horrible person.
“I hate myself. There are no words. I am an awful person. I pay every day for that.”

Others read: “I panic I’ll never have children. I don’t deserve mum and dad. The world is better off without me. I did this, why me.”
A note found in a black bin bag in her garage read: “No one will ever know what happened and why . . . I’m a failure.”
Letby had also written: “I am a problem to those who do know me . . . it would be much better for everyone if I just went away. I just want to be happy.”
There were also some that bore the messages “Kill me” and “Help me” along with the names of some the babies she murdered.
In one, Letby scrawled: “I can’t do this anymore. I can’t live like this.
“No one will ever understand or appreciate what’s like.”
What evidence was used in Lucy Letby's trial?
As well as the diary entries, much of the trial was filled with a microscopic examination of medical notes.
Some were documents of the victims' suffering which saw doctors and nurses having to read out the harrowing details.
They noted the amount of medication the babies should have been on as they fought in ICU.
Harrowing details of the collapses of newborns were also read out.
How long is Lucy Letby's sentence?
The shameless monster today refused to enter court for her sentencing in a "final act of wickedness from a coward".
She was handed a whole life order that means she will be never be released from prison.
Letby is just the third woman ever to be handed the sentence after Rose West and Joanna Dennehy.
Mr Justice Goss said there was "malevolence bordering on sadism in your actions" as he told her: "You will spend the rest of your life behind bars".
He also said the case was a "cruel, calculated and cynical campaign of child murder involving the smallest and most vulnerable of children".
The judge continued: "You acted in a way that was completely contrary to the normal human instincts of nurturing and caring for babies and in gross breach of the trust that all citizens place in those who work in the medical and caring professions.
"The babies you harmed were born prematurely and some were at risk of not surviving but in each case you deliberately harmed them, intending to kill them."

The judge told how "lifelong harm" had been caused after Letby targeted babies whose lives were cut short "almost as soon as they began" in "horrific circumstances".
He added: "There was premeditation, calculation and cunning in your actions."
