Greek authorities have launched an investigation into the woman's death.

She had a head injury but a postmortem is underway to establish her cause of death, according to a report by the medical examiner.

It's believed the victim was bleeding for hours before being discovered, leading investigators to suspect she may have fallen and been knocked unconscious, local reports claim.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from venues in the area.

Surrey Police said: "Yesterday we were sadly made aware of the sudden death of a serving officer whilst they were on holiday in Corfu, Greece.

"We are working to support both their family and their colleagues here during this extremely difficult time.
