It has been done with the help of an army of Sun readers who supported our Smiles At Christmas campaign.

The charity sends Christmas and birthday gifts to every child it supports and it wants to help hundreds more in 2017.

Scotty’s believes there are as many as 700 youngsters out there who need help.

In the meantime, volunteers have been wrapping gifts at the charity’s HQ in King’s Lynn, Norfolk.

Founder Nikki Scott said: “It’s only when you start seeing the name tags that you realise they have all lost a parent.”

Nikki was inspired to found the charity after her children Kai, 12, and Brooke, seven, lost their soldier dad Lee in Afghanistan.

Other toys will go to Amar — which helps kids fleeing IS — Children with Cancer and Women’s Aid, which helps kids caught up in domestic violence.

Nikki added: “Being part of the Sun’s Smiles at Christmas campaign has meant the world to Scotty’s.

"The response from Sun readers has been overwhelming.”
