Royal Family news today — King Charles ‘surprised’ at huge workload as monarch ‘has no time to see Harry’ during visit

- What are the Invictus Games and why did Prince Harry found it?

-

ALMOST one year into his reign as monarch, sources claim King Charles is "surprised" at the huge workload the role requires.

Charles is known by those close to him as a complete workaholic, but even this seasoned royal has been shocked by the workload required to be King.

A source told The Times: "I think the red boxes and [extra] duties have come as an unexpected burden on his time. Queen Camilla is absolutely integral. Without her you’d be looking at a very different person, in terms of his happiness, which is vital to the success of the whole mission."

This comes as Prince Harry is due to visit the UK today to attend the annual WellChild Awards, a charity of which he has been patron for 15 years.

But the Duke of Sussex is unlikely to meet with his father, as the King has "no time in the diary" to see his son, the Mail Online reports.

  • What happened to the Queen’s pony and corgis?

On Friday, September 8, it will be the late Queen‘s first death anniversary.

The Queen was known for her outstanding characteristics, however, she was also known for her love of animals such as her pony and her corgis.

Queen Elizabeth had a pony called Emma – which was her favourite mount for the last 15 years of her life and now she still lives at the Royal Mews in Windsor.

The last time the Queen rode Emma was just two months before her death.

Meanwhile, the Queen’s dogs – Candy, Lissy, Muick and Sandy – captioned the nation’s heart and they too were given a home to be taken care of after her death.

Candy, Muick and Sandy are being cared for by Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson while Lissy now lives with champion trainer Ian Openshaw.

  • Harry’s visit to the UK is ‘likely to be very brief’

Prince Harry will return to the UK in September, however, his visit is “likely to be very brief” as peace talks with King Charles are a “long way off.”

Royal expert Jennie Bond said: “The WellChild Awards is an event extremely close to his heart, he has been a patron for 15 years and never misses the ceremony if he can help it.

“Last year he had to cancel because the Queen died and this year it will bring him to London on the eve of the anniversary of her death. Presumably, he will still be in London on the very morning of the anniversary,” she told OK!.

Bond added: “But the King will be marking it privately in Scotland and William will be going to Wales to lead tributes. So the chance of any private talks looks extremely remote, even if any of them actually wanted to meet.”

  • Meghan Markle ‘unwilling to move back to the UK and face curtsying to Kate’

Meghan would be unwilling to live in the UK and face curtsying to Kate, a royal biographer says.

The Duchess of Sussex and husband Harry are settled in the US and unlikely to leave, Andrew Morton, author of a 1992 book on Diana, believes.

Asked about a possible return, he told Sky News: “What, and have Meghan curtsying to Kate? I don’t think so.

"I don’t see that as a runner. They’ve got their own lives in California.”

Royal Highnesses bow and curtsy only to majesties, so Meghan would only have to do so to Kate once the Princess of Wales becomes Queen.

  • Princess Diana wanted Harry to be William's 'wingman' in 'lonely job' as King

Princess Diana wanted Prince Harry to be William's "wingman" in his "lonely" job as King, a royal biographer has said.

The late Lady Diana had hoped her two sons would work together to lead the Royal Family prior to her tragic passing, Andrew Morton, author of a 1992 book on Diana, believes.

Speaking to Sky News, Mr Morton said Diana wanted her ex-husband Charles to move to Italy with Queen Camilla to farm and sketch, leaving William as King.

Lady Di wanted Harry to be a “wingman” to William in his “difficult, lonely” job as King, the biographer claims.

This comes as unheard Diana audio is due to air in The Rest Of Her Story on US TV.

Eric Schiffer told Newsweek: “I think any respect for his grandmother would be well received ultimately. If he has an interest in a relationship he’d be wise to pay tribute to his father.”

Schiffer added that if Prince William was willing to be photographed driving to church with the Duke of York, then Harry could “certainly” get in their good books again: “I mean, if Andrew can get back then Harry certainly can.”

The PR expert also touched down on the comments Harry made in Heart of Invictus – about how “no one around” him “really could help” and he had no “support structue.

Schiffer said: “Harry is still not getting the message which is that the public is over hearing him complain about his family and father and it’s hurt his brand.

“In this recent reveal, it’s not necessarily a direct shot at his family. There are many families that may not understand the subtleties of how to deal with trauma but the fact it was discussed at all—given the image challenges he’s had recently because of blaming his family—won’t help him.”
