Former England star Paul Gascoigne back in clinic after two-day binge because of grief over nephew’s death

ENGLAND legend Paul Gascoigne has checked himself back in rehab after a two-day bender in his ongoing fight against alcoholism.

Gazza, 49, has reportedly "suffered a relapse" as he struggle to cope with the death of his 22-year-old nephew Jay Kerrigan earlier this year.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspurs and Lazio star told the he has now put himself back into a clinic in the South West just days after ending up in hospital in Poole, where he lives.

Gazza told the paper: “I took myself to hospital because I knew I had messed up. I’d done myself some damage with the gin.”

“I f***ing hate being an alcoholic.”

The body of Jay, who battled drug addiction, was found at a tower block in May.

Jay’s actress mum Anna, 49, is Gazza’s sister - and he was described as "devastated" by his relative's untimely death.

Anna has spent years supporting Gazza in his own battles with alcoholism, drug
addiction and mental health problems.

A friend of the midfielder, one of England's most talented ever footballers, who gained 57 appearances for his country and scored 10 goals, said that Gazza is "determined to get well and everyone is behind him".

The Gateshead-born star also played for his hometown club Newcastle United, Glasgow Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton.
