Argos Christmas tree looks nothing like picture on the box says furious mum’s Facebook rant
Zoe McAllister, aged 22, was excited for her 11-month-old daughter's first Christmas and decided to buy a new tree to mark the occasion
A MOTHER took to social media in disappointment after she excitedly opened her brand new Christmas tree to find it was somewhat lacking in festive cheer.
Zoe McAllister wanted to mark her 11-month-old daughter's first Christmas and decided to buy a tree from Argos to celebrate.
The stay-at-home mum, who is from Glasgow but lives in Oxfordshire, set her sights upon the "perfect" tree at Argos in Wantage.
The £18, 6ft, artificial, pre-lit tree looked just the part on the box, but the tree looked a little different to the picture on the box.
Taking to Facebook she shared two pictures to Argos - one of what the tree should have looked like and what it actually looked like.
The 22-year-old wrote: "I purchased the tree on the left from one of your stores. As you can see from my picture on the right it looks NOTHING like the advertisement on the box.
“I have a feeling half of my tree has been left in the factory? No amount of sprucing can fix this. Disappointed is an understatement."
The post has now been liked more than 13,000 times and shared over 3,000 times on Facebook.
An Argos spokesperson said, “This popular tree offers excellent value and looks great when the instructions are followed.
"The customer’s pictures would suggest the tree has simply been taken out of the box and placed on the stand.
"We have spoken to Ms McAllister who has accepted a refund and an additional gesture of goodwill.”

Zoe, who has since returned the tree, said: "I honestly laughed for about 15 minutes when I saw it.
"The main reason I got the tree was because it's my daughter's first Christmas, so I was kind of disappointed by it in that aspect but it was very funny to look at.
"I've had to return the tree now as it really wasn't fit for use."
Zoe said she contacted Argos via their Facebook page to alert them of the problem.
A spokesman apologised, and told her she could return the tree for a replacement or refund.
A spokesman for Argos said, in a message to Zoe: "Hi there, if you return the item to store with proof of purchase they will be happy to refund or exchange this for you."
Zoe's brother also offered her a tree he was no longer using.
