Investigation into Daniel Khalife security 'underway'
An investigation into the reasons why terror suspect Daniel Khalife was not held in a prison with the highest security level is "under way", Science Secretary Michelle Donelan has said.
She told Times Radio: "So it's my understanding it's not as black and white about that as that.
"So there is an investigation checking that he was in the correct facility.
"It's not as black and white, is my understanding, as to what category somebody under arrest for that those types of crimes should be in."
According to the Met Police, this is the full list of Khalife’s alledged offences:
August 2, 2021, at Beaconside, Stafford, Staffordshire, elicited or attempted to elicit information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58A of the Terrorism Act 2000.
On or before January 2, 2023 at Beaconside, Stafford, Staffordshire, placed an article with the intention of inducing in another a belief that the said article was likely to explode or ignite and thereby cause personal injury or damage to property, contrary to section 51 of the Criminal Law Act 1977.
Khalife escaped his cell at HMP Wandsworth, south London, on the morning of September 6, 2023.
Cops are desperately trying to locate the lag after he disappeared shortly before 8am.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met's Counter Terrorism Command said: "We have a team of officers who are making extensive and urgent enquiries in order to locate and detain Khalife as quickly as possible.
"However, the public can help us as well and should anyone see Khalife, or have any information as to where he might be, then please call 999 immediately.
"I also want to reassure the public that we have no information which indicates, nor any reason to believe that Khalife poses a threat to the wider public, but our advice if you do see him is not to approach him and call 999 straight away."

During a previous court appearance, he was accused of "eliciting" personal information about soldiers from the Ministry of Defence Joint Personnel Administration System.
And he "attempted to elicit information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism."
Khalife was being held in prison awaiting trial for terror offences and alleged breaches of the Official Secrets Act.
He was accused of allegedly planting fake bombs at the military base of MOD Stafford.
Westminster Magistrates' Court heard how he left the devices "with the intention of inducing in another the belief the item was likely to explode or ignite".

Khalife appeared the Old Bailey on 21 July, where the following offence was added to his indictment:
On dates between 1 May 2019 and 6 January 2022 Daniel Khalife obtained, collected, recorded, published or communicated to any other person, articles, notes, documents or information which were calculated to be or might be or were intended to be directly or indirectly useful to an enemy, contrary to section 1 of the Official Secrets Act 1911.

As a result of the search, enhanced inspections are presently being implemented in Dover and other UK ports.
The Port of Dover warned that these precautions may cause delays in arriving to the port.
A made on X read: "Due to a police matter, there are currently enhanced checks on outbound traffic at the Port of Dover and other portals within the UK. Please be advised this is currently resulting in some delays at the port. However, out standard travel guidance remains unchanged and we will keep passengers updated if they can expect any alteration to their journey."
BREAKING: Khalife reportedly strapped himself to a van
According to The Sun's source, the escaped terrorist suspect, Daniel Abed Khalife, fled Wandsworth Prison by attaching himself to the bottom of a food delivery vehicle.
Khalife was believed to be working in the jail kitchens at the time and may have been clad in a chef's outfit.
Justice Secretary Alex Chalk made an "urgent call" to the prison governor and other senior prison service personnel to "seek reassurances about prison security."
Khalife, from Beacon Barracks in Stafford, appeared in court on February 7, this year, wearing a black sweater and blue pants and speaking only to confirm his name and date of birth.
His father sat in the public gallery for the five-minute hearing.
Khalife was remanded in jail by Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring to appear at the Old Bailey on February 17.
He said: “You did not enter a plea. These matters are very serious. If you are convicted you are going to face a prison sentence in years not months. Therefore this court’s powers are insufficient.”
According to the complete terror accusations, he "elicited" personal information about troops from the Ministry of Defence Joint Personnel Administration System that was "likely to be useful to a person committing or planning an act of terrorism."
During the alleged bomb hoax, Khalife is accused of leaving three canisters with wires at RAF Stafford "with the intent of inducing in another a belief that the said item was likely to explode or ignite" and cause harm or damage to property.
