Somerset pub unveils quirky 16ft Christmas tree made entirely from empty wine bottles

A TOWERING Christmas tree of shimmering glass bottles has created quite the stir in an English village.
The 16ft tree, made from more than 1000 empty wine bottles, took a week to build out the front of Queen Victoria in Priddy, Somerset.
The brainchild of landlord Mark Walton, the huge Christmas tree has been praised by locals - and provided a centrepiece for this year's festive season.
Mr Walton said: "We've had quite a reaction."
"It's very unusual."

The glassy spectacle was built by pub regular and local Bel Selway who used a metal frame as a base for the bottles.
Mr Walton said he was ecstatic to see the final result.
He said: "Thanks to all those that helped in any way, shape or form.
"Standing 16ft high and built up of around 1000 bottles it's quite the spectacle."
He added the bottles will be recycled when the tree is taken down and the frame will be used to grow vegetables.
He said: "It's a green scheme."
The has been inundated with praise with one patron writing: "That is pretty spectacular."
Another simple wrote: "Wowzers!"
