A court heard the girl was playing in the street with friends when Naylor staggered towards them.

After attacking her Naylor allegedly wandered into a neighbour's house before he teetered towards a row of shops where he made a nuisance of himself.

He then urinated in a bus shelter, almost got run over by a car and attempted to hug random men in the street.

Bolton Crown Court, Gtr Manc., heard in the attack Naylor's tongue made contact with her eyeball.

Adam Watkins, prosecuting, said: "To her horror and, no doubt disgust, she felt his tongue make contact with her eyeball."

Mr Watkins said the girl's eye was stinging as a result of the attack and she went to hospital to have it washed out.

Naylor, from Bolton, claimed he was drunk at the time of the incident which happened on September 11, 2015, in Bolton, and didn't remember what happened.

He said however he would never sexually approach or contact a child.

He admitted assaulting the girl, but denies sexual assault.

Mr Watkins told a jury: "These acts must have had a least, in part, a sexual intent."

The trial continues.
