Skeletal remains of baby boy found hidden in suitcase in loft of home in Stockport
THE skeletal remains of a baby boy have been found hidden in a suitcase in the loft of a home.
The infant, who has not been identified, was discovered in the attic of a semi-detached house in Stockport, near Manchester.
Cops were unable to determine the exact time of the boy's death - but said it could have happened as long ago as 1959.
An inquest was opened into the death yesterday after the grim find was made on March 6 last year.
Senior coroner Alison Mutch said that DNA tests "provided a link to the family that lived there".
She added: "I think the family were clearing the address and they found a suitcase within the property in one of the rooms and when they opened it these remains were found in it."

"The remains are believed to be historical and there is no evidence to suggest that the find links to any other on-going investigation. Enquiries are on-going."
