Brits happy with Theresa May’s handling of Brexit – but they’re not keen on Boris Johnson
Over half thought the Prime Minister was doing well, but only 33% think the Government overall is
BRITS are generally happy with the way that Theresa May is handling Brexit, a new study shows.
Over half thought the Prime Minister was doing well, but only 33% think the Government overall is.
Research from Ipsos MORI showed that the public are concerned by the work of her Government ministers.
55% of people think Boris Johnson is doing a bad job as foreign secretary, and just three in ten think he's doing well.
And 29% of people think David Davis is doing a good job as the Brexit Secretary, 39% say a poor job. And 32% don't know how they think he is doing at all.
Both parties are seen to be split on Europe - around two thirds of people said that Labour and the Tories were divided.
And eight in ten Tory supporters are happy with the PM's performance, compared to just a quarter of Labour voters.
And the Conservatives still hold a strong poll lead.
The latest figures show the Conservatives on 40%, Labour on 29%, the Lib Dems on 14% and Ukip on 9%.
Gideon Skinner, Head of Political Research at Ipsos MORI, said it wasn't all plain sailing for the PM, however.
“Theresa May’s honeymoon is mirrored in the public’s views of her handling of Brexit, but once you get past her personal popularity, ratings of her government - and her Foreign Secretary - on the issue are much lower," he said.
"In fact, both the main parties are seen as divided on how to handle Britain’s exit from the European Union, even among their own supporters."
