'NOOOO - ME CHIP PAN'S ON FIRE!'

Firefighters’ hilarious bid for Christmas Number One with song warning of burning down your house while drunk

The catchy song warns people to get takeaway if they are drunk instead of trying to cook

FIREFIGHTERS have released a desperate - and hilarious - bid to stop people from cooking while drunk with a tongue-in-cheek Christmas song.

The catchy ditty warns people from trying to cook their own chips on returning from a night out - with the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue team now hoping the tune will make it to Christmas's number one.

Teamed up with the Everly Pregnant Brothers, Red Watch firefighters can even be seen decked out in their full kit and playing musical instruments along with the tune "Chip Pan".

The humorous lyrics include: "I should have had a pizza or had a kebab, but I couldn’t be bothered, I thought I was clever… and now my house is on fire."

The song, which is based on the King of Leon's hit Sex on Fire, then goes on to set the scene for a person left out in the street while their house was on fire.

Belting out the lyrics, the group sing: "So when it's half past 11 and you're getting drunk and you're feeling hungry, a little bit peckish.

"And you nip to the kitchen to cook up some grub, don't go and forget it like I did."

The passionate lead singer Pete McKee is then joined to belt out the chorus: "Noooo me chip pan's on fire".

And while the crew has high hopes of making it to number one, they would also settle for more awareness about fire safety.
