Football fans to be hit by full force of rail strikes as drivers walk out across sixteen companies
FOOTBALL fans will feel the full force of rail strikes today.
Supporters heading to Premier League and EFL matches face chaos as train drivers walk out across sixteen companies.
Those heading to the Tory party conference in Manchester will also be hit tomorrow and on Wednesday — a full strike day — as the rally ends.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union will also bring London Underground to a halt with action on Wednesday and Friday.
Aslef union boss Mick Whelan stated: “Our members have not had a pay rise for four years.
“That’s not right when prices have soared in that time.

“Train drivers, perfectly reasonably, want to be able to buy now what they could buy four years ago.”
But the Department for Transport said: “Our offer would take train drivers’ salaries from £60,000 to £65,000 a year.
“That’s more than double the average UK salary and many drivers top up their income further by working overtime.”
