Hundreds of XL Bully owners are trying to sell their dogs online before they get banned

HUNDREDS of XL Bully owners are desperately trying to flog the controversial dogs — before the Prime Minister bans the killer breed.

Older family pets are being touted online for a few hundred pounds, while sellers are offering puppies for up to £4,000 each.

Aurora is being sold by her owners for £750

Panic has set in among owners after Rishi Sunak vowed to outlaw the powerful dogs by the end of the year following a string of fatal attacks — including five this year alone.

We found more than 300 American Bullies up for sale yesterday during a trawl of sites like Gumtree, pets4homes and American Bully Owners.

Seven-month-old Aurora is being offered for £450 by Edinburgh-based owners, who stress she requires an “adult-only” home.

They explain: “She can be fearful of children she doesn’t know.

“No children in the property or visiting.

"She can be very hyper and can jump up wanting attention.

“She is a puller on leads so she needs someone that is strong.

“Needs to be the only pet as she needs a large backyard that is private and a large property as she is going to be a big girl.”

For £50 less, a dog lover could walk away with one-year-old Simba.

The owner, of Crieff, Perthshire, tells potential buyers: “I am looking to rehome my one-year old bully due to his hyperactive personality.

“We will be sad to see him go.

“I have had him since he was nine weeks old.”

Their advert states: “Puppies will only go to genuine people looking for a new pet.”

An owner in Glasgow is “gutted” to be parting with her 10-week-old XL but is looking for £1,500.

She claims: “My other dogs aren’t getting on with him.”

Meanwhile, a Stirling resident is giving up her dog River due to “work commitments”.

Elsewhere a pair of two-year-olds dubbed “the friendliest giants” are for sale in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire as the owner hasn’t enough time for them.

The males are “great around kids”, according to the online ad.

Trainer Daryll Thomson, 30, said he has been inundated with calls from desperate XL owners since the PM vowed to outlaw the breed.

But Daryll, who runs Cruz K-9 Dog Training in Glasgow, last night claimed No10’s ban won’t work.

He explained: “If it’s not the XL Bully, they’ll find another dog to target in the news every week.

“To say it’s not the dog is a bit of a lie.

“Genetics make them powerful.

"They have a stronger bite.

“But if you train them properly, do all the right things, you can get your dog domesticated, friendly around family.

“I could train a Chihuahua to bite someone’s face off so it’s not the breed.

“Banning is not the answer.”

Daryll, of Gartcosh, Lanarkshire, insisted “backyard breeders” should be targeted instead.

The dad of one added: “They just care about the money, not the quality of dog they’re producing. I know people who take five different sperm from five male dogs to put into one female — it’s crazy.

“Unless they police it properly, nothing will change.”

A string of XL owners have approached Daryll in recent days, worried they’ll have to “put down” their beloved canines.

He admitted: “It’s sad to hear the stress and anxiety in their voices.

“People saying they haven’t walked their dog because they’re terrified to go out – that’s not healthy.”

The XL Bully is thought to have arrived in the UK around 2014.

If the ban goes ahead, it will be the first breed banished since 1991 — the year the Dangerous Dogs Act was introduced.

We told on Thursday how one of the brutes bit off the thumb of owner Gaynor Kerr and ate it.

Gaynor, 47, faces surgery after powerful pet Piglet pounced on her.

Gaynor, of Dundee, said: “I watched her eating my thumb then she swallowed it.”

Days later the beast inflicted 19 bite injuries on hubby George, 63.

The ex-fighter was left with horror arm and muscle wounds.
