Who is Stephanie Del Valle? Miss World 2016 winner, musician and student – here’s what we know
The model and musician was crowned the 2016 winner in a glitzy event as she became the second Miss World to come from Puerto Rico
A TEENAGER from Puerto Rico beat 116 contestants from all over the world to win the title of Miss World 2016.
Stephanie del Valle was crowned the champion of the event in a glitzy star-studded ceremony in Washington.
Who is Stephanie del Valle?
The 19-year-old is the second Miss World to come from Puerto Rico.
She is a musician, model and beauty queen, after previously winning Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico 2016.
She is currently studying at Pace University in New York for a BA majoring in communication studies with a minor in pre-law.
Before she competed in beauty pageants she was reported to be the muse to Puerto Rican fashion designer Carlos Alberto.
She speaks three languages - Spanish, English and French.
She hopes to break into the entertainment industry.
How did she react to winning?
She beat 116 contestants from all over the world to win the title.
And she appeared genuinely astonished as it dawned on her that she had won the 66th instalment of the coveted beauty pageant.
She had previously won the country’s national beauty pageant Miss Mundo de Puerto Rico 2016.
The 5′ 8″ beauty said in her entry video to the pageant it was an “honour and a great responsibility” to represent her country in the contest.
The award was announced at the MGM National Harbour resort on December 19.
Who else bagged a title in the competition?
After is was announced Stephanie had won, the runner up positions were revealed.
Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic, became the first-runner up.
Miss World Indonesia Natasha Mannuela, became the second-runner up.
