Generous bank TSB gives huge cash donation to our Smiles at Christmas campaign

Sun readers can still take part in our festive charity campaign as it enters its final week of fundraising

GENEROUS bank TSB last night boosted The Sun’s Smiles at Christmas campaign with a huge cash donation.

The windfall of thousands will be split between the four children’s charities we are supporting.

It adds to a growing list of big-hearted firms that have donated, including Marks & Spencer, Morrisons and British Gas.

TSB boss Paul Pester said: “I’m really pleased we can do our bit to support The Sun’s Smiles at Christmas campaign.

“TSB is all about local banking and supporting the growth of local economies and communities.

“The Sun’s Smiles campaign holds true to this spirit, giving children in local communities a Christmas to remember.”

Marks & Spencer donated 20,000 toys and books to the value of £225,000. Lorries delivered the goodies to The Sun’s printing HQ in Broxbourne, Herts, last Friday.

There has also been a generous £25,000 gift from the Morrisons Foundation, the charity arm of the supermarket, and British Gas owners Centrica piled in with a sizeable five-figure sum.

Web giant Amazon offered a cash donation plus 50 Kindle tablet computers.

They joined the toys Sun readers donated through Toys R Us and McColl’s convenience stores.

All weekend we sorted through the toys, and this week we are making deliveries to our four charity partners — Children With Cancer; Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which supports kids who have lost a parent in the Armed Forces; the Amar Foundation, which provides medical aid and education in the Middle East and helps terrified children fleeing IS; and Women’s Aid, which helps domestic violence victims in refuges across Britain.

If you would like to join in, you can still donate cash until the end of this week.
