HAVE THEY DONE IT AGAIN?

The Simpsons ‘predicted’ Storm Barbara as well as Donald Trump US election win

THE Simpsons appear to have forecast the future again after an episode featured a devastating Hurricane Barbara - the same name as the monster storm hitting the UK this week.

The cartoon eerily predicted that Donald Trump would win the US presidential election 16 years ago, and the creators appear to have got it spot on again.

In an episode aired almost exactly 20 years to the day, newsreader Kent Brockman tells off a devastating hurricane coming to Springfield called Hurricane Barbara.

It ends up tearing through the fictional town and destroys Ned Flanders' house.

Now conspiracy theorists have spotted that the hurricane has the same name as Storm Barbara, which is predicted to cause chaos when it hits the British isles this week.

The monster storm is expected to bring winds of 100mph in the run-up to Christmas - creating travel chaos and disruption to power supplies.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for wind across half of Britain with a more serious amber alert in place in the far north.

The region is braced for widespread 80mph gales with gusts likely to top 100mph across western and northern Scotland.

Some conspiracy theorists are convinced that Simpsons creator Matt Groening knows more than he is letting on after accurately predicting numerous world events.

In an episode aired in 2000, the long-running show featured Donald Trump as President of the United States.

It portrayed a grown-up Lisa as the incumbent, who refers to “inheriting quite a budget crunch from President Trump”.

Earlier this year, Groening said they used Trump because he was "the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of".

But the joke turned out to be a reality after Trump stunned the world when he stormed to victory ahead of Hillary Clinton in the election last month.

After the creepy predictions surfaced, Simpsons creators responded with an episode featuring Bart Simpson scrawling the words "being right sucks" in the classic opening scene.

The Simpsons also forewarned the death of gorilla Harambe, the Ebola virus, the horse meat scandal and most chillingly, 9/11.

Some believe John Lewis copied the show in its Christmas advert after eagle-eyed viewers found an episode featuring the family's dog Santa's Little Helper jumping on a trampoline.
