Huge blaze breaks out at block of flats in Fife as fire crews battle inferno
Residents were urged to keep windows and doors closed.
FIRE crews were battling a huge blaze at a block of flats in a Fife town last night.
Mercy crews were called to Francis Street in Lochgelly after the alarm was raised around 7pm.

Dramatic images from the scene show the top of the four-storey building engulfed in flames.
Residents were urged to keep their windows and doors closed as the blaze rages on and some were evacuated.
Thick plumes of smoke can be seen billowing into the sky as crews work to extinguish the inferno.
Officers confirmed that no one was injured.
Three fire engines, specialist resources and cops remain at the scene working to extinguish the blaze affecting the roof.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 7.05pm on Monday, October 23 to reports of a dwelling fire at Francis Street, Lochgelly.
"Operations Control initially mobilised two appliances to the scene and on arrival firefighters increased to seven appliances and two specialist appliances.
"As of Tuesday, October 24 at 9.30am, our firefighters remain on scene working to extinguish the fire affecting the roof of a flat on the top floor of a four-storey property.

"No casualties have been reported and three fire appliances and specialist resources remain in attendance."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a building on fire at Francis Street in Lochgelly shortly after 7.20pm on Monday, 23 October,
“Some residents were evacuated and no one was injured.
“Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service remain at the scene.”
Fife Council added: "Fire in Lochgelly, residents evacuated.
"Please follow police advice."
