POLICE have identified a person involved in the tragic mass shooting in Maine which killed over a dozen individuals.
Robert Card, 40, has become a suspect in the restaurant and bowling alley massacre in Lewiston that killed 18 and left 13 injured.
Who is Robert Card?
In a document circulated to law enforcement officials, Robert Card was described as a firearms instructor believed to be in the Army Reserve and assigned to a training facility in Saco, Maine.
The document also states that he had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks in the summer of 2023.
It did not provide details about his treatment or condition but said he had reported hearing voices and previously threatened to shoot up the military base.
What happened in Lewiston?
Officials confirmed on October 26, 2023, that 18 people were killed and 13 injured after the shooter targeted two locations, Schemengees Bar and Grille Restaurant and Sparetime Recreation Center, around 7 PM EST.

Card is believed to have shot the individuals in Lewiston one day prior.
One female and six males died at the bowling alley. Eight men were killed at the Schemengees Bar and Grille Restaurant.
Police said not all the victims have been identified.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office released two photos of the suspect on its Facebook page, showing the shooter walking into an establishment with a weapon raised to his shoulder.

Where is Robert Card now?
The suspect in the mass shootings remains at large. The suspect fled following the attacks.
Card is considered armed and dangerous. Police ask anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately and not approach him.
"This is an ongoing homicide investigation and a search for the person responsible for it," Maine State Police Col. William Ross said.
In photos made public by the sheriff’s office, Card could be seen wearing brown clothes and brandishing a high-powered assault-style rifle.
John Miller, chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst for CNN, described the weapon as an AR15-style rifle with a possible telescopic sight.
He noted that the gunman was wearing blue tactical pants with “bulging” pockets, suggesting the possibility that he was carrying extra ammunition.
The morning after the incident, a vehicle believed to be occupied by Card reportedly crossed the border into Massachusetts from Maine.
Card currently has a warrant issued for his arrest on eight counts of murder in connection with mass shootings.
