Fundraiser for family of Berlin Christmas market attack’s hero trucker Lukasz Urban receives over £31,000 in just one day
Lukasz was stabbed and shot to death as he fought with terrorist who hijacked his lorry and ploughed it into crowds of revellers at German Christmas Market
A DONATION page for the family of hero trucker Lukasz Urban has raised £31,700 in its first day.
The murdered Pole, 37, tried to fight off the terrorist who hijacked his truck for the Berlin massacre.
Brit David Duncan, of Leeds, set up the page in support after members of Lukasz's family came forward to pay tributes to him yesterday.
Writing on the fundraising page, David said: "Although I did not know Lukasz, the story of his untimely departure shocked and disgusted me, and I cannot comprehend how his family feel at this awful time.
"So, as a fellow trucker, I decided to reach out to the trucking community and beyond to help in some small way.
"No amount of money will bring Lukasz back, but hopefully it will help his family do what ever they need to do."
The fundraiser came after Lukasz's cousin Ariel Zurawski opened up about his cousin's final bravery, after his lorry was hijacked while he stopped for a kebab.

Ariel, who also owned the trucking company Lukasz worked for, said: "It was really clear he was fighting for his life.
“His face was swollen and bloodied. Police informed me that he had suffered gunshot wounds. Despite being stabbed he was shot dead.
“I believe he would not give up the vehicle and would defend it to the end if he were attacked.”
