IS THIS BRITAIN'S WORST SANTA'S GROTTO?

‘Depressing’ £2 a go Santa’s grotto made of bed sheets and a shopping trolley built in the corner of Tesco

A CHEAP supermarket Santa's grotto has been branded Britain's worst - because it is made from bed sheets and a trolley.

The "depressing" £2-a-go grotto was spotted at a Tesco in Leytonstone, east London.

Shoppers even thought it was a homeless shelter at first glance, not a magical wonderland used to visit Father Christmas.

The grotty grotto features piles of cotton wool at the entrance, while inside is a milk trolley stacked with presents.

A bed sheet has then been chucked over the shelter to keep it dry.

Cat Hall-Jones, 25, spotted the grotto on her way to buy a turkey for Christmas dinner from Tesco.

She said: "At first I thought it was a shelter for the homeless over the festive period.

"Then I realised they were charging - it's so disappointing."

Boyfriend Joe Roberts posted the picture to a London community Facebook and said: "Tesco, Leytonstone. Two pound? Nah, you're alright Santa."

People commenting on the page blasted the "grim" grotto, and said Christmas had been "destroyed in one picture".

James Grimward said: "That's where Christmas goes to die."

Marty Thornton added: "Feeling all depressed looking at this."

Tesco have been approached for a comment.

The depressing grotto comes after dad-of-four Steve McGawley was arrested over Britain's worst Christmas lights.

The joker's x-rated decorations spelt out 'end' next to a church bell, and also featured a fairy light manhood.
