THE TWO-YEAR-OLD son of a police officer has died after shooting himself with his father's service weapon.

The tragic incident took place in Library Avenue, Cleveland , this morning at 10.30am.

Cleveland Division of Police are investigating the incident,

After being shot, the child was rushed to the nearby MetroHealth Medical Centre where he died from his injuries.

The boy is the son of a 54-year-old Cleveland police officer, who was hired in 1993.

Cleveland police said the gun was the officer's service weapon.

No arrests have been made.
