Woman in her 20s raped in Southampton cemetery as cops launch manhunt for attacker

COPS have launched a manhunt after a woman in her 20s was raped in a graveyard.

An ambulance crew called police to the Old Cemetery in Southampton at about 6.45am on Sunday morning.

The graveyard was cordoned off and cops and vehicles are at the scene.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in The Avenue or Cemetery Road area of Southampton Common between 4am and 6.15am to contact them.

Hampshire Constabulary said: “Police were called at 6.44am this morning by the ambulance service, reporting that a woman aged in her 20s had been assaulted in the Cemetery Lane area of Southampton.

“The woman has reported to police that she was raped at this location in the early hours of the morning.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Police are currently at the scene and specialist officers are supporting the woman.”
