Christmas service accidentally prints explicit words from Tupac’s ‘Hail Mary’ instead of carol
F*** the world and gettin’ p**** among explicit lyrics shared at Catholic Christmas services
CHURCH goers were left shocked and shaken after they opened their hymn sheets and began reading lewd lyrics by bad boy rapper Tupac.
The blunder saw the dead rap star’s infamous “Hail Mary” in its programme instead of the 15th century Catholic prayer.
The congregation had expected to open up their hymn book to find the words “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee/blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb".
But instead the carol singers found themselves stumbling over words from Tupac's 1997 song about hardcore violence and sex.
Pictures of the explicit English-language lyrics in the service’s programme were uploaded to social media.
The mortifying mix-up happened at the 2016 Catholic Joy to the World Festival at the city's Nelum Pokuna Theatre during one of Sri Lanka's largest Christmas celebrations earlier this month.
The festival raises cash for “poverty alleviation projects” organised by the archdiocese of Colombo and a charity partner.
Tupac was shot and killed at the age of 25 in Las Vegas in 1996.
