THE Italian cop who killed Berlin ISIS attacker Anis Amri has gone into hiding after learning he is a target for jihadists.

One said: "You will pay for killing the messenger of Allah. You will die slowly and in pain."

His Facebook account has since been deactivated, and similar protective measures have also been taken with his partner Chistian Movio, who was wounded and hospitalised.

Amri was asked to show his identity documents by the pair in Milan before pulling a gun on the two police officers and firing.

A major international manhunt had been launched for the Tunisian national who hijacked a lorry and ploughed it into a Christmas market in Berlin.

The attack killed 12 people and injured dozens more but police initially arrested the wrong man, giving the real perpetrator vital hours to escape.

After the shooting, it was revealed that Luca Scata was a trainee and had only just joined the force. He was still on probation when he shot Anis Amri and had been in the force for just nine months.

His partner Christian Movio was shot in the shoulder by Amri and is currently in hospital recovering.
