Rishi Sunak needs to come out fighting in 2024 from day one
PM must come out fighting in 2024
RISHI Sunak warned yesterday that the very future of democracy depends on Britain getting to grips with illegal migration. Spot on, PM.
The Sun has warned many times that failure to control our country’s borders will ultimately destroy public confidence in political leaders and institutions.
Voters will not forgive any government that allows callous people smugglers to dictate who comes to the UK.
The PM showed he meant business in his toughest speech yet on migration by channelling Margaret Thatcher.
His blunt words ought to stiffen the spines of Tory backbenchers and convince the rebels to get behind him and his Rwanda plan.
But although controlling migration is vital to the nation, Rishi must remember that the cost-of-living crisis looms even larger in the minds of the public.

Millions face a bleak Christmas with energy and food bills spiralling as inflation eats away at wages.
The PM must make 2024 the year of tax cuts.

Pray for Kate & Derek
IT’S ALMOST impossible to imagine the agony that Kate Garraway is enduring as her husband once again fights for his life.
She has been a beacon of devotion and, like her, the country has been urging Derek to overcome the horrors of Long Covid.
Bouts of progress have been followed by terrible setbacks, as highlighted in TV presenter Kate’s touching documentaries.
At last Derek seemed well enough to look forward to festivities with his family.
So it is particularly cruel that the father of two is now facing yet another battle after being hit by a massive heart attack.
As Kate and her family gather by his bedside, we send all our thoughts and prayers for his recovery.
