Cops seize £170,000 Ferrari 458 supercar and slap owner with £200 fine for being uninsured
2016 has ended badly for this supercar driver who had their Ferrari seized by police and slapped with a hefty fine
ONE supercar driver will see out 2016 without a ride as their shiny red Ferrari was towed away by police.
Officers from GMP Salford posted pictures of the expensive car on the back of a tow truck after they picked up the driver without insurance.
The owner of the Ferarri 458 now faces £200 fine, £150 tow fee, £20 a day storage bill, six points on his licence and a possible ban from the roads.
The actual seizure took place on Christmas Day - suggesting perhaps the driver took out a present a bit too early.
The officers wrote: "Christmas day seizure: PC 19400 Foulkes and PC 12802 Morris seized this car on Chapel Street for no insurance.
"The driver will receive a £200 fine and 6 points on their licence along with a possible disqualification."
Facebook users suggested the penalty was too low and the driver of such a pricey car should be slapped with a higher fine.
But officers responded to say: "Unfortunately the fine is the same for everyone but could be higher should the driver be put before a court. 6 points is one step closer to a disqualification which can occur once the driver reaches 12 points.
