A TRIPLE murderer who bludgeoned a pensioner to death with a coffee table while on licence for slaughtering two sisters will die in jail.

Lawrence Bierton, 73, murdered his neighbour Pauline Quinn, 73, at her home in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, in November 2021.

The monster, 63, was on licence at time after serving a 24 year sentence for killing two elderly sisters in 1995.

He will now die in jail after today being handed a whole life order for Pauline's murder.

The extent of his horrific crimes were revealed for the first time after he was convicted.

Bierton's killing spree began in June 1995 when he smothered 72-year-old Elsie Gregory to death.

The brute also fatally knifed her sister Aileen Dudhill, 79, in a botched bid to steal cash for booze.

He and accomplice Michael Pluck tricked their way into the home in Rotherham by convincing the sisters they needed their lawnmower servicing.

Once inside, Bierton began a rifling through the pair's possessions for cash and jewellery before he was interrupted by Elsie.

He punched the frail pensioner to the ground before using a bloodstained pillow to smother her to death.

The killer then grabbed a knife and stabbed Aileen as she ran into the kitchen to find out with the commotion was

Bierton told Pluck: "I've killed the old b***h".

He dragged the bodies into the living room, piled furniture on top of them and set them alight in a bid to cover up his heinous crimes.

But when he was arrested, police discovered a pair of Elsie's false teeth he is feared to have kept as a sick trophy.

Both he and Pluck were jailed for life in 1996 and Bierton served 24 years before he was released on licence.

Rather than a secure bail hostel, the killer was allowed to move into a bungalow next door to grandmother Pauline Quinn.

In November 2021, Bierton attacked his "defenceless" neighbour when she refused to give him money for alcohol.

Brave Pauline, who had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and walked with a stick, managed to pull an emergency cord that recorded her final breaths as she was battered with the coffee table.

After the brutal killing, Bierton was seen using his victim's car to visit a relative before returning to the scene to dump the murder weapon.

He accepted being responsible for the killing but denied murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility due to his alcohol dependency.

But his lies were rejected by jurors, who convicted him in less than a hour.

Bierton will now join the grim ranks of prisoners who will die behind bars - including Sarah Everard's murderer Wayne Couzens and child killer Rose West.

Mr Justice Pepperall said: "You have been found guilty of the senseless and brutal murder of three elderly and disabled women in their own homes.

"You showed each of the victims no mercy.

"[These were] sustained attacks in which you used extraordinary levels of violence.

"I am left in no doubt whatsoever that you must never again be given the opportunity to walk the streets.

"The only just sentence in this case is that you should remain in prison for the rest of your life."
