His room was completely emptied and he found his £500 Balenciaga shoes in a bin bag

But the part-time model was left flabbergasted that after having his room gutted – he’d been left with a £52 cleaning bill.

The 21-year-old said: “I’d been out of the house for 12 hours. This has left me feeling dreadful.

“I also had sentimental items in my room like birthday cards from family members that have now passed away which have gone.”

Louis was officially due out of Stratford One in East London on December 25 but verbally agreed to go three days earlier.

But when he came back to his £253-per-week room on December 20 it had been completely emptied by Unite Students staff.

As well as expensive tech, a Canadian Red Fox coat, Dior bags, Prada clothes and Christmas presents from Alexander McQueen had vanished.

Despite losing an estimated “£10,000” worth of belongings, he’s most upset about his contact lenses and glasses.

“I just thought ‘no way, this isn’t happening to me right now”, Louis, from Saddleworth, Manchester, added.

After contacting Unite Students via email Louis rang the Metropolitan Police in a blind panic.

He then set off in search for his stuff and was appalled to find his £500 Balenciaga shoes and bedding stuffed in a bag in the building’s bin store.

Unite Students got back to him to apologise before revealing some, but not all, his items had been found.

The livid student said: “My Dior bag, fur coat and all my birthday cards from the past 15 years have still not been found.”

Unite Students – who promise to reimburse Louis for lost items – said the £52 cleaning fee was a service offered as standard and Louis had agreed to use it.

They said they are now liaising with Louis and awaiting proof of purchase on various items.

But the ordeal has left him at a loose end and he may have to redo all his uni work as January deadlines loom.

A video of the Louis saga was shared on TikTok has since racked up over 82,000 views and 6,400 likes.

A Unite Students spokesperson said: “We are aware of the reported incident in question and are investigating.”

A spokesperson from Metropolitan Police said: “I can confirm this [incident] has been reported to police and an officer will make contact with the man to discuss it further.

“We are in contact with the student and relevant onsite teams.”
