Demi, of Little Hulton, Salford, Gtr Manchester, died despite doctors saying her surgery last Thursday had been a success.

The mum-of-three, who gave birth to her youngest son just seven months ago, had flown to Turkey having previously undergone dental work, which had been botched, and other surgery.

Jab to get ‘celeb rear’ is No1 risk

BRAZILIAN bum lifts have the highest risk of death out of all cosmetic surgeries, but are increasingly popular thanks to curvaceous celebrities.

The op — which costs £3,500 in Turkey but £10,000 in the UK — have a death rate of more than one per 4,000 surgeries, studies show.

It involves inserting silicone implants or injecting fat from other parts of the body.

Melissa Kerr, 31, from Gorleston, Norfolk, died from a fatal clot in her lungs after a £3,200 Istanbul op in 2019.

Leah Cambridge, 29, suffered a blood clot during a £6,500 BBL in Turkey.

The mother of three, from Leeds, died in 2018, when fat was accidentally injected into a vein, causing her to have three heart attacks.

In 2022, after a four-year halt on BBLs in the UK, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons recommended surgeons inject fat only below the skin rather than deep into muscles.

What is a Brazilian Bum Lift?

Brazilian bum lifts have increased in popularity in recent years thanks to curvaceous celebrities like Kim Karadashian.

Medical studies have shown a BBL operation - which cost around £3,500 in Turkey but £10,000 in the UK - carries the highest risk of all cosmetic surgeries with more than one death per 4,000 procedures.

The surgery sees surgeons insert silicone-filled implants and/or inject fat transferred from other parts of the body.

Other British women who have died following a BBL in Turkey include Melissa Kerr, 31, from Gorleston, Norfolk, in 2019.

A fatal clot travelled to her lungs following a £3,200 procedure at an Istanbul clinic.

Leah Cambridge, 29, suffered a blood clot during a £6,500 Brazilian butt lift surgery in Turkey.

The mother-of-three, from Leeds, died in August 2018 after having fat extracted from the waist and injected into the buttocks.

But she suffered a fatal complication when fat was accidentally injected into a vein, causing her to have three heart attacks on the operating table.

In 2022 The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) issued new guidelines to members following a four-year halt on BBLs being performed in the UK due to concerns over the death rate.

It recommends surgeons only inject fat below the skin rather than deep into muscles like a BBL.
