Rishi Sunak’s election hopes rest on Rwanda vote this week & Tories must rally together
Tory MPs need to rally over Rwanda
RISHI Sunak’s election hopes are resting on a knife-edge vote this week.
The PM knows his party’s future depends on steering the Rwanda legislation through the Commons.
But the kamikaze Tory rebels who are out to scupper his plans could wreck not only the bill but also any hopes of defeating Labour.
Nobody doubts illegal migration is a vital issue.
Former Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick claims today that each small boat can end up costing taxpayers up to £30million.
He is right to warn that the bill carries a high risk of failing in the courts.

But it is still the best option the Tories have got.
Mr Jenrick and other rebels must realise voters are tired of seeing the party tear itself apart.

ECO-extremism is never far below the surface in the world of Ed Miliband.
Take the views of a key adviser to Labour’s Shadow Climate Change Secretary.
Eleanor Salter has said she wants to ban domestic airline flights and slam new taxes on foreign flights for holidaymakers.
In a 2020 speech, the climate zealot called for the “managed decline” of the UK’s carbon intensive industries.
Such hard-core policies would no doubt thrill eco-yobs such as Extinction Rebellion.
But they would deny hard-working Brits a foreign holiday while the rich could afford to carry on jet-setting.
They would also plunge Britain into a new dark age, throw millions on the dole and destroy any hopes of building a dynamic economy.
Does Red Ed privately share the views of his adviser?
He is, after all, the architect of Labour’s ludicrous plans to splurge £28billion on green projects despite being unable to explain how the country can afford it.
