TWO of the paedophiles jailed as part of the notorious Rochdale grooming gang are still waiting to be deported — 12 years after they were imprisoned.

Qari Rauf, 54, and Adil Khan, 53, were convicted with seven other men of plying 47 young girls with alcohol and driving them around the North to have sex with other sick predators.

The men were jailed in 2012 — Rauf for six years and Khan for eight.

They have both now served their terms.

They have also been stripped of UK citizenship and are appealing against a deportation order that should see them returned to Pakistan.

They claim they have wives and children in the UK and, having given up Pakistani citizenship, they would be stateless.

The Sun understands they will be deported only if Pakistan agrees to take them back — which it is refusing to do.

Former Manchester officer Maggie Oliver, who helped bring them to justice, said: “It’s disgraceful.

“They should have been deported straight from prison.

“These men are not victims. They are paedophiles and criminals.

“They shouldn’t be allowed to use public money to repeatedly play the system.”

A Home Office spokesperson said: “We know we must do more to protect vulnerable children and our new Criminal Justice Bill will look to further protect victims and make sure grooming gangs and their leaders face the toughest possible sentences.”
