A YOUNG mum diagnosed with terminal cancer is now in a quest to finish her bucket list with her biggest dream to meet the Stereophonics.

Amy Jones and her family were told three weeks before Christmas that she had various tumours around her body.

Her family are now fundraising in a bid to help Amy, from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, tick off every item on her bucket list, with the biggest aim being to meet the Welsh rockers.

Amy, 26, who is mum to sons Jac, six and Ollie, four, and step mum to 13-year-old Kia, is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Her sister Kirsty said: "I am determined that she is going to do everything with her little family that she wants to do. She will make memories that the rest of us can hold on to, because one day, that's all we'll have."

The story began two years ago when Amy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer at the age of 24.

Kirsty said: "It broke is as a family to see this after being through it with my father, Gareth, who is now five years in remission after he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2011.

"When my dad was diagnosed, it was Amy who would drive my mother down daily to see him.

"She is a kind soul but she's also feisty and fierce. Out of myself, my two brothers and their wives, Amy is the one that will stand up for everything and everyone that she loves.

"It's been a long running joke that I call her my superwoman because that's who she is to me.

"She's faced so much in her like and she still battles on. She's a warrior.

"Amy's attitude and determined forced us to believe that she was a fighter. She would beat it. And she did for a long time."

Amy had a single mastectomy and was booked in for another in order to reconstruct her chest, something her family called "the last leg of her race".

She was rushed to A&E last month having had a headache for three days and not being able to see properly.

The family received the tragic news that she had a large tumour in her brain, a "cluster" of tumours

on the other side of her brain, a tumour in her lung, and another near her kidney.

Kirsty said: “Instead of getting upset, the family faced up ready to fight, but there would be no fighting this time. Amy was terminal.

“She won’t be here to see me get married in the future. She’ll never get to hold my children. She’ll never get to see her own beautiful little boys go on their first dates, or to high school. She’s not going to be here for all of the important bits. Amy is my sister, and eventually she’s going to die.

“I cried in bed for three days whilst she was in the hospital, unable to see her for fear of breaking down and upsetting her.

“Then came the reality check. No matter what I’m going through, my sister is going through much, much worse. So I picked myself up and started planning.”

Now Amy and her sister are arranging how she can tick off everything on her bucket list, which began over Christmas with numerous trips out for the family and a visit from Santa.

Kirsty has set up a Crowdfunding page with a target of £10,000, and at the time of writing, had accrued almost £4,000.

Kirsty said: "She wants to renew her vows, take the children to Disneyland and go back to Mexico.

"She’s such a free spirit, planning a year of her life would be her worst nightmare.”

But Kirsty is determined to get her sister a meeting with the Stereophonics.

She said: "They are her favourite band. We’ve grown up with the music. She's seen every gig since she was 16, including an intimate concert in Hammersmith.

"One of her ultimate goals would be to meet the band that has shaped her personality growing up in South Wales.

"Please help us allow this wonderful, strong young woman make the beautiful memories that she and her family deserve."
