Pop star Dani Li dies aged 42 after complications during liposuction op as heartbroken family say they are ‘shaken’

A POP star tragically died aged 42 after complications during a liposuction surgery.

Dani Li passed away on Wednesday, leaving behind a husband and a seven-year-old daughter.

The singer - full name Danielle Fonseca Machado - had her operation on Friday.

It's understood that she went in for liposuction on her belly and back, as well as a breast reduction.

During the procedure in Pinhais, Brazil, she suffered a complication and had to be rushed to a hospital in nearby Curitiba.

Her husband, Marcelo Mira, told local media on Thursday: “Her body arrives tomorrow in Macapá.

“We are very shaken by all this.

“The burial will be on Saturday.”

She became widely known in Brazil after her hit song ‘Eu sou da Amazônia’ (I’m from the Amazon).

She was born in Afuá in the Amazon jungle and began singing when she was five.

After taking part in talent shows in her hometown, she moved to Macapá - about four hours away by boat - when she was 17.

There she formed the brega - a Brazilian pop music genre - group ‘Banda Sensação’.

In 2008, she met the poet Osmar Júnior, who became her producer and gave her the hit that propelled her to stardom.

Her last song was released just two months ago.

The exact cause of the complication hasn't been established yet.

She paid £4,000 for the operation, according to some reports.

An investigation is believed to be underway.
