Footage shows a motorcyclist pull over to help the elderly man, who is stuck inside the battered red car.

Other pedestrians quickly rush to his aid and the group are able to pull the man out of the smashed-up motor.

After rushing to the car, the filmer can be heard saying: "Is anyone else in there? Someone call an ambulance, someone call an ambulance."

Noticing fluid leaking from the car, the man says: "It's leaking, is the ignition off?"

The quick-thinking saviour then reaches into the car and turns it off.

Another man is heard asking: "Was he on the phone do you think? That was a nasty flip he had I tell ya."

Posting the video online, the motorcyclist said: "Thankfully the driver escape the wreck with only a cut mouth and a bit of shock.

"In the time after the crash people were driving past recording the scene on their mobile phones so I acted as a "Traffic Controller" to keep everybody moving and reduce congestion as much as I could."

The motorcyclist admitted there were "various speculative reasons as to who was at fault and how it happened".

He added: "I'm just glad the driver made it out alive and unscathed and nobody else was injured, god forbid if someone was on that zebra crossing. Drive safe out there!"
