Police were called to Manchester Opera House and the injured man was given first aid

Her shocked husband waited until the interval before confronting the man and punching him repeatedly in the face.

“There was blood everywhere.

"It looked as though his eye socket was broken.”

Adrian Jefferies added: “That is outrageous, is nothing safe anymore.

"The ballet isn’t a football terrace.”

Police were called to Manchester Opera House and the injured man was given first aid.

A spokeswoman said: “Officers attended the scene on Sunday, January 21, and a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

"He was later released pending further investigation.”

Swan Lake is arguably the world’s most popular ballet and tells the tale of how Prince Siegfried falls in love with Odette, Queen of the Swans, only to be tricked into betraying her by the wicked von Rothbart and his daughter Odile.
