A HOMELESS man died after being found sleeping rough in Liverpool city centre on the coldest night of the year.
The man in his 40s, was rushed to hospital after being found outside as temperatures plummeted on Thursday night in the North West.
The mercury dipped bellow -3C on Merseyside the night before he was discovered.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious and it has been passed on to the coroner.
A hardcore of between 15 and 20 homeless people are thought to remain on the streets of Liverpool, reports.
Last month the city's mayor ordered the cold weather shelter to be open any night where temperatures drop below 2C.
Many people expressed there concern on social media asking how this was still allowed to happen.
Clare Donnelly said: “Breaks my heart there is no need for this to happen not now and never again. There has to be something we can do.

"No one ever deserves this it’s times like this we have to stick together and fight. Knocks me sick.”
Carla Lydiate added: “I think we should all find out when the poor man’s funeral is and go to make a stand.
"Give him a lovely send off. Hope he is in a better place than here.”
