Chilling photos obtained by Israeli government prove Russia has nuclear-capable missiles in Syria
THIS chilling picture reveals Russia has the ability to launch nuclear missiles in Syria at a military base on the coast.
The satellite image was obtained by Israeli intelligence and shows ss-26 Iskander rockets capable of travelling a range of 350 miles.
This would mean the UK air base of RAP Akrotiri in Cyprus would be within range.
The rockets were seen on mobile launchers at a military base at Latakia on the Mediterranean coast.
According to reports the weapons seen in the photos are controlled by Russian forces operating in Syria.
On Friday Russia’s military said it had begun scaling down its deployment to Syria, with Moscow’s sole aircraft carrier set to be the first to quit the conflict zone.
General Valery Gerasimov said a group of ships lead by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier would be first to leave.
He told the TASS news agency yesterday: “In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, (President) Vladimir Putin, the Russian Defence Ministry is beginning to reduce its armed forces deployment in Syria.”
At the end of last year radiation-ready Russian soldiers prepared for nuclear war as footage emerged of a terrifying practice drill involving up to 40 million people.
Emergency services wore hazchem suits and gas masks during the four-day trial run in Moscow.
Soldiers were seen carrying away ‘victims’ of a nuclear attack while civilians scampered into protective tents.
More than 200,000 emergency service staff are believed to have taken part in the drill.
And North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un plans to be equipped with an arsenal of nuclear weapons within the next 12 months, it has been claimed.
