THE warped mind of one of Brianna Ghey’s murderers has been revealed – as chilling notes tell macabre obsession with serial killers.
Scarlett Jenkinson was just 15 years old when she played a part in luring helpless Brianna to her death before stabbing her 28 times with a hunting knife.
She was found guilty alongside accomplice Eddie Ratcliffe, both now 16, who exchanged texts for weeks – planning Brianna’s “ferocious” attack.
The pair were named at Manchester Crown Court on Friday after a judge lifted reporting restrictions on identifying them.
They were today given life terms – with Jenkinson serving a minimum of 22 years and Ratcliffe 20 years.
Ahead of sentencing, Judge Mrs Justice Yip heard Jenkinson admitted for the first time stabbing Brianna herself.
Brianna suffered stab wounds to her head, neck, chest and back as well as defensive cuts to her arms.
Sick and twisted Jenkinson, who was obsessed with serial killers, revealed that the knifing was “satisfying and exciting”.
Chilling notebooks found in the teen’s bedroom showed detailed pages of the horrors inflicted by Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy and Richard Ramirez.
She trawled the dark web for real-life footage of torture and murder as well as writing a list of 10 “types of serial killers” – including characteristics they have in common.
Other notes included facts about Harold Shipman, a British doctor who was convicted of murdering 15 but suspected to have killed 250, and a mindmap about what it takes to be evil.
Jenkinson’s disturbing fanatical mindset saw her “blur the lines of reality” – giving her the urge to kill.
In texts exchanged between the two murderers, Jenkinson told Ratcliffe she wanted to take body parts and flesh from Brianna as souvenirs.
Hours before the murder she had watched Sweeney Todd “for like the 9,000th time” – a film about a barber who slices the necks of his customers.
Shortly after her tearful arrest, the notes found in her room revealed the obsessive mindset she had with pain being inflicted.
Jenkinson and Ratcliffe lured Brianna to Linear Park in Warrington, in February last year.
On them, they had a £13.50 hunting knife that Ratcliffe had bought while on a skiing family holiday.
Jenkinson remained emotionless as she was put behind bars on Friday.
Sentencing, Mrs Justice Yip said the murder was “brutal” and “sadistic” and that a secondary motive was Brianna’s trans identity.
The judge added: “Brianna was only 16-years-old. She had her whole life ahead of her.
“This case is unusual and it has shocked the public.”
Manchester Crown Court was told Jenkinson had a “deep desire to kill”.
‘SATISFIED & EXCITED’
The sadistic killer, who drew up another “kill list” while in secure accommodation, told her lawyers she “snatched” the knife from her co-killer and slashed at her “repeatedly”.
Deanna Heer KC, prosecuting, said: “She said Eddie had thrown Brianna to the floor and stabbed her three or four times then he panicked and said he did not want to kill her, so she carried on and stabbed her a number of times.
“When asked how many, she answered, ‘A lot.’ She was satisfied and excited by what she was doing.”
In an emotional victim impact statement, Brianna’s mum Esther Ghey said she believes the pair are still a danger to society.
The mum added: “I don’t believe that someone who is so disturbed and obsessed with murder and torture would ever be able to be rehabilitated.
“I have moments where I feel sorry for them, because they have also ruined their own lives, but I have to remember that they felt no empathy for Brianna when they left her bleeding to death after their premeditated and vicious attack, which was carried out not because Brianna had done anything wrong, but just because one hated trans people and the other thought it would be fun.”
While Brianna’s dad described her killers as “a pair of monsters” who “should be forgotten”.
Peter Spooner said the the “brutality” of her murder left him feeling a sense of “complete and utter horror”.
